Besides sRGB color space,the camera RAW file also can export image with Adobe RGB color space,which file format is JPG image,8 bit TIF image,16 bit TIF image.The Adobe RGB color space is mainly applied on printing and other industrial uses,can recur relatively wide color range.If you are not familiar with image process,Adobe RGB color spaceand Design rule for Camera File System 2.0,Exif 2.21 or higher version,we suggest you don't use the Adobe RGB color space.
At the sRGB color space environment,or at the printer which is not compatible with the Design rule for Camera File System 2.0,Exif 2.21 or higher version,the image with Adobe RGB color space will appear at relatively low color saturation.
Quite complex thing,can't understand!It doesn't matter,for most images,the effect of Adobe RGB is only a little better than sRGB,the difference is not very obvious.If you don't care the image quality,just use sRGB color space.If you care about the image quality,then it is necessary to understand in detail.I try to use common but not strict words to explain the difference of sRGB and Adobe RGB.You ought to be understand after you read it.My Explanation is as follows:
The commom display device support sRGB color space,don't support Adobe RGB color space,so the display effect of image with Adobe RGB color space will be relatively grey and dark.For this reason,when you want to share the image in network,it is better to use sRGB color space.When the display device that support Adobe RGB color space become mainstream,of course the image with Adobe RGB color space is better.
The color range of Adobe RGB is wider than sRGB.So generally,those people engage in printing will use Adobe RGB,the image printing effect is better than sRGB.
Not only printing (here I mean screen printing and offset printing,etc.),the digital printing (here I mean inkjet printing and laser printing) is also same.The digital printing effect of the image with Adobe RGB is better than sRGB.Please note,when you print the image with Adobe RGB color space,you need to let image software color mode and the printer color mode all support Adobe RGB,otherwise you can't apply the Adobe RGB effect.I use the image software Illustrator,Photoshop,and the Epson Artisan 50 Series printer to give an example.The image software color mode should choose Adobe RGB,operation is as below:click the image software Illustrator,Photoshop Edit--Color Settings--Working Spaces,choose Adobe RGB color mode;The Epson Artisan 50 Series printer color mode,also should choose Adobe RGB,operation is as below:the printing option--the advanced option--the color mode option,choose Adobe RGB color mode,then begin printing.There are many type printers,the specific operation usually can be found at the the printer instruction,or ask the printer manufacturer for it.If your image software,printer color mode usually use sRGB color mode,after image is finished printing,remember to change back the color mode.If the printer don't support Adobe RGB color mode,the printing effect will be relatively grey and dark,in this case,use the image with sRGB color space is better.
